The casserum of the castle, located in a dominant position, is present in documents from 1216, and it represents one of the oldest buildings in Montieri. A part was built in the thirteenth century, but the southern part dates from the eleventh century. The top has changed during centuries while the lower part still retains some of the original structural characteristics. The formwork on the facade retains a door with pointed arches and a round arched, partially buried, and on the first floor a small door and two round arched windows, where there were the old prisons. This beautiful example of residential architecture privileged, perhaps attributable to the bishop, dominates the entire village from above.
